i have a 10x12 wall tent with a 8x10 porch(8x10 frame with big tarp over it) and right now my stove jack in on the back wall. when the stove is there it takes up alot of interior room, so i want to move it to another area. which area do you prefer have your stove. also do you have the opening on the roof so the pipe goes straight upwards or do u prefer it out the side.

here is my setup. the problem with puting the stove in another place is my tarp

My stove is in the same spot in my tent and I don't have any issue with the location. My tent is bigger though (14'x 16') so it may make a difference. We are able to move it a bit to one side to make more space too.

i can probably put the stove sideways instead of straight and it may give move room

My stove sits in middle off set of ridge pole. I have an aluminum piece with hole in it in tarp that lines up with stove pipe.
After 30 yrs I tried it this way 10 yrs ago and find it great. Its easy to access back by it and distributes heat evenly.

Not sure I understand you question .... the stove is going to take up the same amount of room no matter where in the tent it is located . mine is in the center of the back wall which works very well for sleeping 4 . 1 cot in each corner/side and a table in the center for playing cards etc.

For the last 30 years the stove has been inside the front door to the left, pipe straight up through the roof (reason is the stove at the back will pull air 'drafts' in towards the stove, and right past you, and we like to avoid that). I see know need to have the pipe and its infrastructure go out the side or the back, also the best quality of a canvas tent is that it breaths therefore we do not 'condomize' it with the Man store tarps. It has has snowed and rained with no issues at all, our first tent was sold last year,29yrs old, with no rot at all. Just general care and stored dry.

I'd say, by the way you tarp it up like that, to leave the chimney going out the back wall.

I don't put a tarp on mine either , and have no problem keeping warm , I haven't had to worry about drafts actually the opposite , we open the door a crack or so when the temp is near 0 or slightly below . We have used it at down to -18 or so as well . The OP had said that the jack was already at the back center so I didn't see the need to move it as IMO that is the best place . I got mine from deluxe and that is where they opted to put the stove jack .
