Just bought a new ATV and a Kolpin "Saw Press II" just wondering where you guys mount your saws and at what angle?

I have the previous version and had it mounted to the back rack of my quad. "had" being the operative word here. They hold the chainsaw by the bar and bumps in the road will flex and bend the bar. This causes them to fatigue and break over time. Mine was a cheap Poulan fortunately.

I put a metal basket type thing on my front rack, it's made for ATV's and that's where my 136 Husky rides. Along with extra cable, rope, small bottles of chainsaw gas and oil, small axe etc. Everything is held down with a few bundgee's, and your good to go!

Bought mine at Princess Auto and clamped it to the left rear rack of the Bear.
Keep the rifle up front where I can see it.
Rather lose a saw than a shooter.

Built my own saw mount with a small piece of plywood and 2x4 blocks. It's held down by one strap.
Built a gun boot mount on the other side.
Passenger seat can still pop up.

Your hound looks like kin to Tucker here?

They do look alike.
My girl is almost 4. Got her from an European family in Langley.

I like the plywood idea, the right price for sure.Do you find having the gun this way is better than backwards?I got mine the other way and it gets a bit of mud. Thanks for the photos, nice dog.

It works great this way for me. I can reach and grab my rifle as I step off the quad.
The boot slides easily in the steel loop and is held down by a bungee.
This allows the boot to shift in case it comes in contact with a tree.
The factory polaris mount was so rigid, that I bumped a tree and it cracked my side box a bit.

I am a surveyor in the oil fields, we go out every day year around and literally smash about. No chainsaw mount stands up. The best you can do is strap it to the racks with a bungy cord, any thing that creates leverage will break.

I had a kolpin saw mount, like others said it holds it by the bar and cracked my new saw so that the chain oil would slowly leak out of saw. It was a new saw too but some a hole stole it from my shop, so I bought another one. I now use bungies and a tie down with a towel under it to cushion it on the rack.

Hmmm have to look at the leverage problem i was hoping to mount the saw of to the side of the racks so as not to use up rack space.Good info... durability is a big factor.
