Hey,

I'm wondering what your average mule/black-white tail deer size/weight (with the guts) is?
I'm pretty much staying in southern BC, Abbotsford to Princeton.

Also, what are the black bear numbers like in my area?

Thx

?? is that a new species I am unaware of?!

Each animal is an individual, it depends on genetics, age, food source. So you really can't put average on weight. Also you definitely cannot lump muley, BT and WT all into one pile. And black bears are everywhere, not hard to find.

i hunt princeton area sometimes. we've had two mule deer that were around 300 pounds (live weight) and a couple around 230, and one smaller one around 180 or 190. only seen 2 bears ever there.

The biggest factor in deer size is food source, if you've ever seen a deer that hangs out around a farmers field and has plenty of food they'll always be fatter, great eating.

From what I've found....bigger deer, regardless of species, are heavier. Alive or dead. Same goes for bears....
I think bigger things are easier to see too, unless they are hiding behind even bigger things.

I could be wrong though.....

Bergmann's effect ...... generally larger animals in colder climates. It refers to body mass vs hide area. That skinny little coyote from southern Nevada doesn't look like a coyote from Ft. St. John.
