So last fall I took the mossberg pump 410 I bought for my daughter with to use on chicken, it worked great. Then just around Christmas I was talk with a friend (and member on here) and he said he was thinking of getting a combo gun 410/22. This started the wheels in my head in motion. I was on the hunt for a new gun. The most common gun that came up was the new Savage model 42 which is based on the old model 24. The new one is available in 22lr/410 or 22wmr/410. I couldn't decide on which to get, IF I decided to buy a m42.

On the one hand I already have three 22lr and lots and lots of 22lr ammo. But then I thought it would be nice to have the gun with a little more punch. But the ammo for the 22 mag is more expensive. But its a single shot so I won't be doing a ton of plinking with it.

So off I went to look at these guns in person and see how they felt. In the end I used my Christmas money my mom had gived me and went home with a 22wmr/410 at a smokin' price. I haven't had a chance to try it yet but it fits the gun claws on my ATV perfectlys nice and light to carry. I've already looked at getting a scope mount but don't think I will on this gun as I want to keep it really simple.

Well I'm yet to fire it. I forgot to grab some 22 mag ammo although I do have 410 shells. I'll be heading out in the next few days to try it

I love my combo gun. It's sees a lot of time in the bush. From ducks to bear. Can do it all if it has to. Slightly different caliber than yours though. Good luck with it
