OK first of all IMO there was no need to delete the original threads, if, and I say a BIG IF, there was indeed any true libelous statements made they could have been deleted individually. However that's all water under the bridge now. Here is the issue we are fighting, hopefully Goat Guy will repost the substantiated facts and figures and that we can stick to the issues at hand and keep it respectful and on track, closed threads do us no good in this fight.

The start: Originally posted by Jack Pine Savage
The wildlife allocation policy is how wildlife ie: moose, deer, elk etc. are divided up between resident hunters and guide outfitters. B.C. already has the most generous splits anywhere in North America, no jurisdiction outside of B.C. has more than 10% non-resident allocation. The guide industry wants up to 40% of the available sheep, goats and grizzly bears and up to 25% of all other species for their non-resident trophy hunting clientele.
If you like LEH and have no problem sharing the available wildlife out there with non-resident aliens and having the guide territories owned by foreign citizens or corporations do nothing. If you have a problem with this picture and want your children and grandchildren to enjoy the benefits of this province the way we did, you need to get involved.
There are 230 guide outfitters in this province and over 100,000 licensed resident hunters, the BCWF currently represents 45,000 members. Who represents you?
Wherever you are in this province your MLA needs to hear your opinion on this sell out of your access to the resources of this province and if you do not respond now it will be too late. Tell your politician that a 90% resident / 10% non-resident split is as good as it gets. How many guides live in their riding when the next election comes.

This policy was negotiated and was implemented in 2007 with a phase in period of 5 years thereby fully implemented in 2012. When the policy was implemented, the guides immediately back doored it and have been lobbying the government for a better deal for their non-resident clients ever since. The guides now have their own advocate in the ministry paid for by the taxpayers of the province not the non-resident clients.
Send an email to your MLA now, cc Ministers Thompson and Bennett and even the Premier. The revised policy is to be announced before Christmas.

The best information out there is the article in BC Outdoors Hunting magazine from this spring. The dates and deals are fairly well laid out. The allocation policy was negotiated between the govt., the BCWF, the BC Trappers Association and the GOABC (guides association) between about 2003 and 2007. When it was introduced, the govt. statement was that nobody would be happy but it was fair to all. The president of GOABC said, not on my watch. The BCWF negotiated in good faith and trusted that the process would be completed as agreed. The northern regional managers immediately removed sheep from schedule A as the negotiated policy showed how wrong the previous allocations were and almost completely reversed them and would not let the deals continue. These numbers were why there was a 5 year implementation period, the guides were given time to reorganize their businesses to work with the new numbers. Every year since 2007 a number of the guides have filed appeals of their allocations, a process not available to resident hunters, and with very few being allowed. This policy was to be fully implemented in 2012 but the BCWF was asked to be involved in new negotiations along with a guide/outfitter advocate being hired in Victoria. BCWF declined to be involved with renegotiating the policy and stated their position along with a demand for legislated splits along the lines of other jurisdictions ie: 90/10 in favor of residents, the 2007 allocation policy gave more favorable numbers to non-residents or guides.

These are just a few of the posts that kicked off the original thread. If anyone has any more to add please do so but keep it on track and factual, again GOATGUY PLEASE repost your facts and figures here

In my opinion, ;-), this release from the GOABC in 2009 shows they are only in it for themselves. Not only do they want to take our allocation percentages, they want the tax payer of BC to subsidize them in the hopes of rejuvenating what I believe;), a dying industry.

Just some food for thought, move this thread to the Mainland section and you'll get way more response. There's lots of guys that want nothing to do with BCWF so they won't post in this section. Look at the ratio of views vs replies. K
