If that was mine and sitting on the floor it'd be my luck for the dog to come in and chew the antlers a little shorter for me... Antlers are his favorite chew you I've gotta be careful around here.

Maybe 2 P&Y record elk in BC this year? I don't know if the "buckley bay roosevelt bull" was archery of crossbow, but it has a shot at a non-typical archery record (if it qualifies.)

P&Y does not accept crossbow kills and no kill is P&Y untill registered with them. But the inches are the same, registered or not. What did the Rosie score?

Sum-hunter, that is Sum Elk!!! Congratulations on a fantastic bull! What's the inside spread measurement on your smile!??

You can find all the top ten's here. https://pope-young.org/records/records.asp

Entry for the latest recording period ended last night. I can look at the last book and just pick out BC entries but it won't be right up to date.

The P&Y magazine has up to date quarterly entries but I don't keep them all.

Here is the story....so after spending the week at trout lake quading, fishing and sittin around the fire with friends, we headed home on the 30 of august. I was now debating whether to go look for a goat or go look for elk and hang trail cams. The thought of bugles got the best of me and the choice payed off! So august 31 came and my buddy and I headed out in the afternoon for some evening glassing. We been hunting elk in this particular area for a few years now and havent been succesful till this year. The glassing was a success. We spotted a bull high up a ridge rackin trees. The bull was quite a distance from us and all we knew was he was a nice bull. We glassed till dark with out any other sightings of elk or any critters. We set up camp in the box of my pickup. Tossed a tarp over the boat rack and flopped an airbed down and we were set. Sleep was very minimal after seeing the bull. Every scenario was running through my mind that night. We got out of the truck around 330 and started hiking by 4. As we worked our way up the mountain we walked into a 120-130 class whitey at 25 yards. I passed on the deer with hopes of seeing the bull. We continued hiking and came across fresh cow tracks. Its about 8 am now and my stomach was starting to yell at me. So we stopped on a openish ridge where I could shoot about 50 yards. We sat down and just before I pulled out a sandwich I cow called and a bull lite up within 150 yards of us. So we quickly set up and he came in in a hurry. First sighting of him he was 80 ish yards up the ridge and thats when I started shakin! This thing is HUGE

I quickly calmed my self down and focused on my anchor point and my breathing. Only thing in my mind was "I can check him out when he is down". He was cuttin across the ridge above me then turned hard and headed down straight at us he stopped for a split second behind a tree and thats when I drew back. He quickly started movin our way again and hit the trail I was on and was runnin straight towards me. At 30 yards from me he turned left and started down the moutain I quickly stopped him with a subtle mew and he took an extra step and hide his boiler room behind a tree. I slow stepped out to expose his vitals and let the arrow fly. The arrow flew right on through him and I stopped him with a cow call 15 yards from where I shot him. From there he went another 30-40 yards and piled up in some brush! We slowly moved towards where he went down and with no signs of movement my level of happyness was throught the roof! I pulled out the video cam and looking at the footage now I would say I had a world record smile! The easy part was now over and the work was just about to start. Took all day to get this beast out! Around the friends and family this bull is known as the "engagement bull". This was because of the deal I struck with the girl friend. Back in june or july I told her that I would propose to her when I get an elk. In making thus deal my hopes were to hunt elk all september. There is just something about hearin em bugle that keeps a guy out there! So my 2014 elk hunt lasted just over 2 hours! And on november 2, with a ring inlayed with elk ivory I popped the question while fishing!
