Hey guys, Just bought myself my first 12 gauge (rem. 870 super mag.), I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips or trick into getting into duck hunting. any help is appreciated from necessary equipment, to spots/location to go to, what to buy and what not to, any help is appreciated. A little bit about myself, I'm 19 years old been hunting deer since I can barely remember got my first LEH elk this year off the island. I live in wonderful Coquitlam but I'm willing to travel anywhere i work monday to friday but I can take time off work pretty easily at times. thanks for any help I appreciate it

I would get a duck call and 1/2 dozen decoys and get out there, which is what I did many years ago. A portable blind would be nice and if you don't have a dog a set of chest waders to retrieve your ducks in water. A small pack for your shells, thermos and lunch if you are out all day. If you don't have a portable blind make one from natural stuff in the area. My son lives in Coquitlam and tells me he hunts very close to there.

Thank you very much I will be getting that soon, any prefference of which decoys to get? theres so mny, and would he be willing to share a few of his spots? not asking for him to show me just a general location would be nice if anyone is willing to show me beers and all the hard work would be done by me if that intrigues anyone

Definitely try to get some practise with your 870. Skeet or better still sporting clays will be more useful than trap or shooting clays in the bush. Unless ducks are 100% committing to decoys (very rare) then you need to be able to read target speeds and angles.
