His name is Bones. He is a now 14 week old GSP that was pick of the litter from LegacyK in Ontario. As I understood the breeder doesn't have the time to bring him up due to a job change or some such thing. Eitherway. He comes from excellent champion lines and has really taken well to some basic training. After only 3 days of place board training he has really take to "Place" "Sit" and "Here"(coming off the board) he is working well with these commands under distraction as well as isolation. Last night I tried a few "retrieve" commands and he started to pick that up as well for a que to get off the board and go get it and come back. Anyhow without rambling too much I would really like to hear from any one else that has or has had a GSP. Just to hear any words of advise or in fact anyone with any training tips or advise. I have had many dogs in the past but none were hunting dogs. So any specific advise on starting a hunting dog off well, what sort of things we should focus on etc would be great. I have been doing a fair bit of reading and researching but of course any info would be most welcome.
