Hi Guys,
Just wanting to pick at the hunting brain trust that is HBC
I have been out a few times now trying to call in some coyotes. I've been working the area to the West of Summerland, but haven't had any luck so far.
I've been using a spinning decoy and remote caller, only succeeded in calling in a couple of does!
I am new to this and was wondering what kind of calls to use, calling frequency and how long to try a spot before moving?
Was out again today for a walk with the dog and came across a bunch of mule deer tracks, but didn't see any coyote tracks.
Thanks!

This time of year I use a rabbit in distress. I usually sit 20mins for coyotes but if im trying for cats then I sit for 45mins. Call for 3 mins then sit for 5 is my system. Worked last week lol. Good luck to you.

I was wondering if you found the type of rabbit seemed to make a difference?
My call has a couple of different species of rabbit type calls and hare calls as well.

Don't think it matters too much. Get out there on cold days.....the colder the better. I like the snowshoe hare calls on my foxpro myself.

you're not finding any tracks?
change areas.
west of summerland? you mean up the summerland/Princeton road?
get off on some side roads and look for coyote tracks, there should be lots.

another tip.
having your dog sit beside you works really well.
leash it if need be.
and best to be elevated up on a slope or slight hill.
the coyotes will zero in on the dog and come running.
