Me and the old man are gonna give it one more shot this weekend. I was going to work but I couldn't pass up one more chance at a deer.

The original plan was to hit the Skagit but apparently the road is a death trap (see Caddisguy's post) so we are gonna give that a pass. I am now going back and forth between trying the Chilliwack valley or heading up Harrison way. Which do you think would be a better choice?

It is supposed to rain this weekend so I am thinking that is a good sign, seeing as that kind of weather gets most of you BT pros frothing at the mouth.

I am not holding out too much hope but maybe the old man or I will luck out. Either way it will be better than my usual Saturday landscaping gig.

Cheers, Sylus

I was out one last time today. Ran into several deer one big 2x3 that gave me the slip in the timber. Passed on a spike. It was a good day. Good luck. The big guy was chasing a doe still. This was in the mid island

Thanks for the info tinhorse, I be hitting the antlers and a few does calls to see if I can get some action that way.

To bad about that 2x3. Good on ya giving that spike the pass. Let em go, let em grow.

I think you would have a better kick at the can up the west side of Harrison.
Good luck

Thanks for the tip. I think I will head up that way. Hopefully the road handles this latest pounding of rain well.

Skagit might be decent this weekend. I suspect it hasn't been hitting freezing temps much if at all and there's been a lot of rain. Fridays lows might bring in a little snow as well. If you have a good spot you wanted to get to up there I would try for it.

x2 on West Harrison though. That's is some nice country. Good luck wherever you end up going!! Let us know how it goes :)

I have been hunting the Chilliwack valley pretty hard and it has been slim. This year has been slimmer than usual. I have been hunting the same area and know most of the other hunters in that area, and no one has had any luck this year. Harrison is never a bad bet, but its been hammered all season. With that said a buddy shot his first on closing day a few years ago, so you never know.

The roads have been hammered all season. a guy can walk for days up there and not see anyone.

Last couple of weekends the west side of harrison had lots of trucks cruising the roads.

I was not planning on road hunting. I was just gonna get off the road and giv'er on foot until I found some sign and then go from there. I found a stretch of timber that looks to be pretty mature (judging from the width of the trees on google earth) so that was gonna be my first stop.

I'll be sure to report back with how it all goes, probably back on this thread.

Trip Report:

Not to much to report from my outing. I found some sign in the morning and sat for a bit of the morning hitting the antlers and the doe call occasionally. While i was doing that some intense fog rolled in and my visibility was reduced down to about 40 yards. Saw no deer during this sit so I decided to change it up for the rest of the day.

I spent the remainder of the day hiking around looking for sign and found pretty much nothing. This was my first try at BT's so my poor findings might because of that.

The most exciting thing that happened was when my dad took a header into a small stream. He managed to fall on the side that his rifle wasn't on so that was a good thing.

Here are some pics from the day:
