thanks so much for bringing us along!

As a new hunter it really impresses me on how much hunters of big game put in to the process. I'm looking forward to some scouting trips in late summer to start working on next year's deer.

cheers,

I had to pack out the elk about a kilometer and a half to get it to my truck from where it pilled up..

Have you ever tried the gutless method.
Works well, keeps flies away as the guts stay internal till the end.
Especially when it is that hot....just a thought if you have never tried.
Congrats on the bull, and more so, feat effort getting it all out.
The work only really begins once a bull hits the dirt!....good on ya....thanks for posting!

Great looking animal. Thanks for the share. Looks like a lot of preseason work and planning goes into arrowing one of those...

I bet he would like the gutless method, even though it was just a deer I tried that method this year as it was too far to drag the deer,it worked great and unless the deer was very close to the road I would not do it any other way now. There are some great youtubes on how to do it

It does keep the flies...and the Stink to a minimum for sure.
Yes, if I can drag a deer, for sure I would gut and drag out.
But for H47, I understand that I ws probably very warm out, so one may consider getting the gut out quickly, to reduce heat and get the elk cool as possible.
Plus for one person, the guts add a lot of weight when trying to work on the elk, so if I were alone, I might have done the same.
But gutless method is great way for sure, and anyone that hasn't tried it, should consider the option, IMO.
Congrats again H47
