Ya ya ya, poo poo vortex. However i have had a diamondback serve me for 5 years now and i am looking to upgrade. I am eyeing up the 3-9x42mm zeiss terra and the 3.5-10x44mm vortex viper hs. I find leupold over priced for what you get these days and the above mentioned scopes they are about as much as i want to spend on a scope. Do any of you have experience with terra glass vs viper glass?

I have Viper Bino's and my son has Terra bino's. Honestly neither of us can see a difference one way or the other as far as the binos go.

I have owned six Viper HS series scopes, extremely happy with their performance. Great glass, adjustments track well, long eye relief...extreme value. Only downside is they're heavy, at least compared to a Vx3 Leupold

I wouldn't ever consider buying Vortex over Zeiss.

As far as I know the Vipers are made in Japan and the Terra's are made in China..... Just saying

my only experience with Zeiss Terra product was looking through a couple riflescopes at a trade show. Not impressive

Fact, they are both manufactured in japan.

Vortex is good because the company has been around forever. Ziess is good because they are known for quality glass.

I wonder what they said about ziess in 1856 only being around for 10 years at the time. Got to start somewhere.

Seven and a half years ago I said I'm going to retire in ten years. Seems like forever.

There are always the same Vortex haters that pipe up on every thread that they are mentioned. Fact is I have both in my house and can tell no discernible difference. If the price were similar I would most likely buy the Zeiss. But if the Vortex were a much better deal I wouldn't hesitate to go that route.
