Hi All, I've been reading threads on rattling and grunting and came across reference to "burping" for mule deer.

I can burp on command (my son thinks I'm Sinatra) so wondering how to burp for mule deer, and when is it most effective?

Thanks,
BR

Talk to Dana, he's got a video up of it on www.monstermuleys.com iirc. I think he uses it fairly often. Can't argue with his results!

Do you have a more direct link to the thread it would be in??

I have been burping for deer for years. I find the pre and peak rut is the best time to have success. Really allows me to get a better look at deer I bump up while still hunting. I burp to calm deer down, so they don't stott away in the direction I was planning on heading. I burp all day when I am in noisy conditions. Allows me to walk right up on deer as they just think I am a buck on the prowl. And when the bucks are really worked up, they will come in with ears back, spitting mad, wanting to have a fight. Post rut burping is counterproductive. Does will run away as they are tired of being harassed and bucks will bail as they are tired and beat up and not willing to fight yet another battle.

Here is a buck I was able to burp in a little over a week ago. Allowed me time to have a good photo shoot with him.
