Ok boys this one go's back to my Hawaiian roots. Pipi Kaula is a Hawaiian jerky.

3/4 cup soy sauce
2TBS Hawaiian Course salt
1 1/2 TBS brown sugar
1 garic clove minced
1 pice raw ginger fine grated about a TBS grated
Mix all ingredients
Add 2 lb strip flank steak (1" strips cut with the grain)
Marinade in fridge over night
Dry in smoker or in oven for 7-8 hours
remove from oven and cut across grain into bite size pices and enjoy.
Refrigerate un eated in a air tight container.

If you add marin. And drop the salt. Boil in a pot and add a TBS of corn starch it is unbelievable topped on ribs and chicken.

Marin is a chinese sweet cooking wine. Made by kikkoman. And can be found in the asian section in a super market.

Would you use the marin sauce as a barbecue sauce?

Got any good recipes using pineapple and such in Hawaiian food?

Of course. I will throw some up for you. And with the sauce you will want to cook your ribs or chicken with salt and pepper then just dredge them through the sauce and serve.

That sounds darn good!! Heading back to Kauai at Xmas.....going to have to keep my eyes open for some Pipi!!!!

Just so you know pipi means cow and kaula means strips. So translares "cow strips".
