How far back do BC Books retain records?
Before I was born (TO my knowledge it was that long ago), my Grandfather harvested BC #1 ROcky Mtn elk one year. Of course the record has been broken by then, but I was curious if it would be worth me picking up a BC Book and takin a peek to see if his name is still even in there. He had all those certificates and stuff from winning it that year, so if atleast be interested in the score! Unfortunatly a tenant that was renting his basement suite broke in one night stealing the mount, so I never saw it.

Thanks in advance

HMm thanks - that might be a start.
Minimum BC book rewards is 320 - I know it was a crown royal or something like that - I THINK 7x7. I have no clue when it comes to elk - is a 320+ 7X7 a real big one, or are several of them shot now adays.

Does anyone have a BC Book (new or old) and would be willing to look for a name for me?

Cheers

Ha ha, crown royal is whisky!!! usually when an elk is an even 7x7 they call it a royal elk! 320 is very nice but not huge! Keep an eye on the B&C website (trophy watch) theres usually a few huge elk on there with the scores posted! As well theres been a couple guess the scores on elk here recently.

Name is Gaston Gaucher. Might be under Joseph Gaston Gaucher, or Gaston Jospeh Gaucher.

Mark - I know crown is whiskey - I thought that it may have been called a crown royale, but maybe just a royal :D :D

Yeah it was perfectly even - coulda used it as a rifle rack he used to say.
I am just guessing 320 b/c thats minimum BC Books - on the other hand if it was BC #1 that year then it was prob bigger.

Thanks again

Ok, I'm a little confused (not an elk-ie)
I thought one of the tines on an elk antler was called the royal, I thought the large high one usually four up from the brow on a 6-pointer.
Is the term royal saved for the extra tine on a 7x7 only ?

Isn't that point usually referred to as the "Sword" point??

G4 is the royal. However, to my knowledge, a 6x6 is a Royal, a 7x7 is an Imperial, and an 8x8 is a Monarch. We elk-ies like to confuse you sheep-ies Boxhitch.

I think (but im no elk'ie) that I have heard those descriptions as well.

Clearly myself or my gramps was into the Crown when it was decided his was a "Crown Royale".

I THINK it was a big 6 point, hence the allocated crown name Fisher Dude said.

Maybe a concern for having a cougar escape from the back seat ?

It's got the extra two doors...just that a young punk like you doesn't remember the days of the Hot Rod Lincolns with the suicide doors. And it seems I didn't hear any whimpering from that long-legged spider that was sitting back there last week, complete with his trusty laptop and SSS farting on the leather and keeping him company. My hound has held his breath back there all this week after you two hippies stunk it up.

Shhhhh, don't let the young punk in on all my secrets!

I have a 320 that's still in the books and he looked huge when I got him. My son killed a bigger one two years ago and anything over 300 always looks big. You don't need a lot of bone to make it bigger. Lots of 340 plus bulls coming from our Province now.
