The whiteys are starting to chase. Haven't seen any muleys doing this yet this year. Oh right, I must have missed it. Muleys rut in Oct. Hahaha!!!!

Thanks for the awesome pics.I too seem to grab the camera before the rifle these days . Having put down a lot of bucks over the years I seem to like watching them more than shooting them.I got a video last weekend of a 2 point mule about 20' from me, he could care less I was there. Keep the great wildlife photos coming.

Just to clarify, this buck was on private land. If he had of been on Crown, I probably would have whacked him. I've already killed one little whitey this year and am hoping for a bigger buck for my second tag. This buck isn't a monster by any means but he'd be the size I'm looking for. I did pass on a real giant today though. Must have had 1 1/2 inch spikes. Thought it was a yearling doe at first glance. Was hard letting him go but I think I can find something bigger before Dec 10th. ;)

Say what you will about the rut timing , I saw several fresh rubs appear the 20th to 27th of Oct and saw bucks tending does the first week of Nov

Was in Lumby area Nov 9 and previous week all mule deer does were buy them selves.Fresh rubs were plentifull. Was in 8-12 on rememberance day ran into a heard of 9 mulys all togeather not a buck too be seen.Rut was not happening before that.I hope this cold weather has changed things.Have my apples down and my Bow ready for the 25th,just need a decent buck to be following the does around.

If you read the rut thread you will see that I said the odd doe comes in early. These are typically the yearling does that haven't got their cycles figured out yet. What I did disagree with, was GG saying the bulk of the does are bred the last week of Oct and the first week of Nov. Not a chance in Hell!!!! As for this year, I have not seen any evidence of rutting from the muleys as of yet. Some small rubs here and there but that is always prerut activity. My daughter's 4 point was killed the last weekend of Oct. It certainly was a big bodied buck and would have been a breeder this year. He had some bark in his antlers but only a slight tinge of smell on his tarsals. He was all alone, and was not showing any evidence of rut. Certainly was not skin and bones as GG claims happens in Oct.

That's a nice looking whitey. I went out for a drive here friday in the EK's to see if they were showing any signs of rutting and I saw one very similar to that one . I saw him and new he wasn't what I was looking for but he was standing broadside and looking smart. Real long brows too. Just wish one of my sons was with me.
