We just moved out to the Lumby area this year and are looking forward to discovering the abundant outdoors available to us here. Every year at Christmas my sister and her husband visit us and her husband and I go ice fishing in the morning and then come home and lie to our wives about all the fish we caught. This year will be no different with them coming to visit us in our new home but due to the local temperatures I believe we will probably not be able to ice fish. Am I wrong about that or will Sugar or Echo be frozen? I have yet had the chance to get out and fish at all in the area so not sure of local lakes. I have also heard that some might shorefish at Mabel lake? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Echo Lake freezes pretty early, It only gets an hour or two of sunshine in the winter. I wouldn't count on Sugar Lake, some years it doesn't even freeze across.
