Planning a trip for next week. My brother and my dad and I are going to load a quad or 2 in the boat and head up the north end and see if we can get a few bucks.

Good luck, be careful-as I am sure you know that trip can get very ugly in a real hurry. Pitt lake is an unforgiving bitch.

Good luck! Be sure to take some pictures and post em up. Have always wanted to get up into that country. Pretty wild for how close it is to the big city

All unforgiving bitches. But they do have a lot of good hunting areas.

My dad knows the area very well. he used to go up that way every year. They would tow a barge and take a truck up. No barge this trip but my dads 45' gill netter should make a pretty nice camp :)

Be prepared as you might not be able to get dock space, there is only one section that is not the logging camps. Make sure your insurance is in order as the cops are always up there. And as stated before there is lots of private property and there is no hunting/shooting from 4km marker to just past the hatchery, I would also stop by the camp and ask where they are hauling out of so you don't get a big surprise on a narrow road.

I tried to do a trip report right after I got back and had typed out almost a novel... added a few pics and when I posted it said I used an unsupported character and I lost the whole thing pouted and gave up. so here is the short story, Loaded the quads and gear onto the boat on Wednesday Nov 12th Headed out on Thursday morning. Got to the dock at the North end of Pitt lake at around 2pm... unloaded the quads and headed out to check out the area.

Beautiful country up there. I tie my boat at the rocks just below the tubs. Nothing like resting in natural springs in the middle of nowhere. Has anyone been past the second canyon in a boat? I've heard rumor that someone has, but that would take bigger balls than mine. Great pics by the way, I'm sure you'll be back.

Great pics. I've been dropped off by helicopter at the back of the hatchery road Near the top of the hill and hiked out. There's a cave up there that the goats winter in. The amount off goat crap is 2 feet thick it's like a barn yard. While eating lunch we could glass that big mountain their and spotted many huge bears. Don't worry it was for work and I wasn't hunting. Looks like you guys had a great trip. It's awesome country up there.

Yeah. Water level plays a big part in how runnable the second canyon is. A lot less high-risk in lower water, but getting there in low water is the issue.

Put a cup of gas in it and you're good for the day. We had an 85' TRX250 quad that was light, plus cheap on gas too. Pretty much go anywhere you wanted or just lift it out and go again. Now we're on the race to see who can shove a 350chev into a quad. Something to be said for simpler times.

looks like an 84 honda 200x, which are 5 speed with clutch, no reverse

I think a good atc for a boat would be atc 125 or 185s or even smaller 110.

I'm still rocking my 85 big red 250es

I checked the local Kijiji this morning and one popped up 1/2 hr before I was on.

I ended up getting a 1984 Honda 200M, 5 speed, no reverse, electric start with recoil backup, front & rear racks. The thing was like new. No cracks on the plastic, tires were perfect, so sign of it ever being used much with not a scratch on it. The only thing it could use is a brake job, but that is almost a given with these things. I lifted it in the back of the truck myself, so loading it in the boat will be no problem.

$800 handed over to the man and I was off with a smile on my face.

The trike is pretty awesome, only negatives are it maxes out around 60 km/h, it vibrates like nobodies business and first gear isnt quite low enough for rock crawling. The good part is you can comfortably ride it standing in any gear and just put along watching the scenery.
