nmbrock - My first deer

My dad had me practice shooting with his 6mm Ackley improved rifle. After some range time I was ready to go after my own deer instead of just being a passenger on the back of dad's quad. This past weekend we had a daddy daughter weekend and we headed up to near Kamloops because I wanted to get my first deer.

The first day we didn't even see a doe so we headed back to the camper to go sleep and I hoped I would have luck the next day. The next morning we slept in a little because it was such a rainy day. We finally got out of the camper and quaked up the mountain. I was daydream and my dad said "there's your deer". I was like what? There was a buck standing on the road looking at us. We scrambled off the quad and my dad loaded the gun for me and i got the shooting stick ready. My dad asked "do you see him?" I said "yes" so he told me to take him so I shot at it. I hear my dad say great shot and we went over to where it was standing. There was lots of blood on the ground so my dad told me we had to track it. He only went into the bush a few steps and said "sweetie I see your deer". I was so happy.
