Bucks still in velvet?

Hi all, spooked two bucks that ran across the service road and we all three swore they were still in velvet and had rounded "points". I'm think it was yearling bucks?

we are near Adams Lake MU 3-42.

I'm not familiar with Canadian Deer cycles yet, so curious.
