G'day everyone,
I have been lurking here for a while now and wanted to share my first post and first deer.
Long story short, I'm an Aussie who has been here for about 10 years, decided to get my PAL two years ago and did my CORE this summer. I have been preparing for this season and I have been very fortunate to have a great mate of mine take me under his wing and show me the ropes.
I have been out a couple of times so far and came up empty. We decided to go out for whitetail last Sunday and I decided that I would fill a tag if the chance came up. We walked into our spot before sunrise and waited, as the dawn broke two does came across our path, slow movements and advice of be patient the second one presented with a broadside shot.
Probably about 85 yards, I took my aim and delivered. The shot feels like a blur as I watched the doe stall, jump up and bolt about 20 yards and double over. We gave her some time and then we went over to start the process of dressing etc. We got her into the river to cool down and clean up and back home to prepare and off to the butcher.
It was a great first experience and again much thanks to my mate and his dad for the for the opportinity and guidance. I'm hoping to continue this season by getting a buck.
