Hello All,
Try not to laugh too hard but I was wondering if anyone uses/used a Honda Ruckus for quiet cruising in the bush? Not hard core just de-activated logging roads and trails etc. I want to use it to get in farther so I can hike in farther. Mostly in the Princeton area. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

cheers

A buddy of mine has a Yamaha bw all raced out...motor turns something ridiculous like 17,000 rpm...I asked about finding a cheap ruckus or bw for hunting and he said that since the motor is the swingarm, if you wack it on a rock and crack it (say, a cross ditch that snuck up on ya, as they tend to do), you're out of luck.

How fast are you moving that cross ditch's sneak up on you?

Beats walking. I'd run one if it gave me an advantage.

I've hunted lots off a Honda XR100, it my Japanese Quarterhorse! Even have a XL100s for certain street-legal regions.

My friend's got one and I've putted around town on it. They really dont have much power going uphill but then I weigh over 200lb. I'm sure it would beat walking but it may not have the juice to get you up any steep inclines. Good thing is they're light enough to drag over fallen logs or deep ditches.

Yeah, I'm 200 as well. Watched some youtube vids of guys on them and they are lacking power. I think I'm going to go with the CRF125 big wheel instead. Thanks for the replies.

Have a look at a Yamaha TW200. 200cc, fat tires, and street legal. Need a bike license though.

Lots of videos on Youtube

Mountain bike with a stout electric motor is another option...lightweight, silent, and a motor for getting you up the mountain. Coming down you don't need the electric assist. Charge the battery in camp in the afternoon. New lithium batteries give them a decent amount of range per charge.
