Cabella's game has a 500lb capacity game cart on sale for around $100,any opinions?Beats dragging and I can't pack a deer on my back anymore....I was thinking it might be useful for areas you can't take a quad in

I was already thinking about putting bigger wheels on my aluminum dolly and seeing if that would work

I got one a couple of years ago but it still is a virgin. Maybe this year it will get tested.

Hi. I don't have a Cabella's cart but I do have a homemade one. Mine uses bicycle wheels and has coaster brakes which is very helpful on steep hills. The cart is a godsend. I have packed deer several miles on it by myself. The hardest part is loading the deer. The cart rolls well and will go over a lot of obstacles including tree trunks on the ground up to about 8" in diameter. The Cabella's cart looks very similar and if it is sturdy, it should serve you well.

I have a quad, but theres places you can't take a vehicle in,and I don't want to give myself a heart attack packing a deer out

Use mine often works great .Side hilling is a bit dicey. We hooked one up to a motorbike in a deactivated area towed a buck out .

I bought one made by Ken Sward in Keremeos, it's the best investment I've made! Lets me pack in more gear, go farther, and carry out more meat. Really cuts down on retrieval time.

I bought the cabelas one a couple of years ago on sale and have used it only once to pull out a medium size mulie buck

pros:
cheap
better than dragging your deer on the ground
folds up nice

cons
factory pins too small and made of soft metal, bent almost immediately, I drilled them out and upgraded them to next size up
handle too low, needs about a 12" extension otherwise you have to crouch to pull it

get a good one- support a BC manufacturer. Just look them up in the BC hunting regs. page 25. Check their website and testimonials. It is a good product and has been field proven here in BC.
Used my Pak Cart again this year to haul in our camp gear. We used it to extract our buck from the bush back to camp in one piece. Then we hauled the deer plus camp gear out of our hunting spot. A great piece of kit.

I have the pak cart, really well made and has taken a beaten and keeps on ticken.
Hauled out 2 deer and an Elk with it so far, but I also use it for hauling fire wood to the house with it.

I think at the outdoor show they are around $200. May be more mid season. Best money we've spent.

I just bought one from Ken. Excellent guy to talk with. $220.00 plus shipping. If I have learned anything in my 60 plus years. It's that Cheap usually does not equate to quality. Ya usually gets whats ya pays fer.;)

So briefly, what is the diferance between Kens pack cart and the typical production ones such as Cabella's sell?

Lots of well thought out design in the Pak kart. Wheel guards. No axle across the bottom of the cart so there is excellent ground clearance for rough terain and obstacles. All steel frame and wheels. No plastic anywhere.
it will be 200 bucks well spent.

Gun show in victoria next weekend,I'll see if one might be there, otherwise I'll just order it .I totally agree,it's worth it to pay a bit more and get something that is proven in the field and works,I've checked game carts out on the Internet and most of them have shortcomings

Just bought a Pak-Kart from Ken, and he said it was last one he had in stock. May just want to phone him and order one now, to speed up the process.
