Enjoyed a nice fresh coho for supper this evening from the Dewdney slough.
The water is just right in colour now as opposed to the last few days of mud and
debris created by the heavy rains. There have been more wilds than hatchery until
the last 2 days. Anyone contemplating this fishery better get out there before the next predicted heavy rain. If you're ripping about in a boat, please don't swamp the old guy in the blue canoe equipped with an outrigger.http://bigshotsbc.ca/images/smilies/biggrin-new.png
By the way, a fellow lost his cell phone amongst the jagged rocks along the Fraser
dyke downstream from the slough estuary today. If anyone finds it and it's not working, (I'm assuming if it's working you can get in touch with him) either let me know or get in touch with the RCMP please.

The fellow that lost his phone sure was lucky. Someone found it amongst the
rocks, was able to phone him, and arranged for him to come and get it.

I used to cast from shore on the slough and from the rocks on the fraser when my buddy lived in Hatzic. was lots of fun.

The slough and river have been very high lately but coho are still being caught.
It actually has been a very good year so far. There are high numbers of both wild
and hatchery fish being hooked. I attribute some of the success to this being a low
year for chum. Unfortunately the next few days are predicted to be heavy rains.

I haven't wet a line yet this year. Still chasing deer.
Could be a coholess year for me.

Keep the rod in the truck, if you are heading out of the valley you pass numerous areas to hit on your way to or from wherever it is you hunt.

I'm a one track mind and usually hunt far from salmon streams.
But once I stop going to region 3 I will be able to combine the two.

I'm thinking about a trip to dewdney later today or tomorrow. Anyone know if its a mud flow after the rain last night (28th)?

I was there yesterday afternoon and although the slough was backed up by the tide,
it was remarkably clear above the house on the corner. Up by the mill and pub there
were quite a few chum surfacing and being caught by bait with float.

It should be OK. If I get out and about I will take a look and report back.

Ugly old dark purple ram 2500 for me. I will keep my eyes open if I get out, most likely will around noon for incoming tide. No boat for me today so will wave if I see ya go by
