Hey fellas,

just getting started in the wonderful world of waterfowling. I've had some decent success in the marsh with the decoys I have( a dozen mallards) I get a lot of pass over shots but I'm noticing that there isn't a lot of ducks "dropping in". I'm wondering if I should mix some other species decoys in with the mallards? If so what kind? And some general decoy strategies would be very helpful. I'd love to get some dream "cupped wings" shots in this season. Any help would be awesome.

Thanks Buds!

I'd concentrate more on how your spread is set than what's in it.

All you need are mallards, I use about 18 and a Mojo.
The last few years the ducks have been flying over to the flooded Cranberry fields to the south and resting up in the sanctuary or the lake to the north. The marsh is only open to hunting 3 days a week (Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday), but the carp and bass fisherman are out all week and the birds don't get a chance to rest in the marsh like they used to. They are a lot harder to call in than they used to be.
