PICS UP. page 2. Thanks to LMW for that.

So my wife pulled the OK Mountain Goat hunt. After 2 weekend day hunts we went in for a 4 day hunt on the long weekend. Lots of Goats in the park, we counted 26 from the one spot we were sitting. Most of them way way off.

Found a a good billy a bit closer and my wife made a great 180 yard shot with her Rem model 7 in .243 She is shooting Federal Classic 100gr. Recovered one bullet with a very good mushroom.

Very exiting in as this is her first big game animal she has ever harvested. Billy went 9" and 4.5 years old.

We got it on Saturday. Had the cape and meat off the mountain by Sunday morning. Cape went straight to Harley's. Had to make a quick round trip up the mountain Sunday afternoon to grab our camp gear as we had to leave it up there to get the goat down. It's tiring going down the mountain loaded then rushing back up only to come back down loaded again in the same day. But it's worth it.

This left us with enough time to go for a drive up to region 3 for a mulie hunt Monday morning. I lucked out and scared up a 5x5 WT after seeing 12 mulie does and 5 moose.

Managed to get a shot off just before it disappeared into a draw. After tracking it down and a 600yard drag it was gracing the back of my truck.

Made for a excellent end to a awesome crazy tough weekend of goat hunting.

Ya I avoid spreading myself around the internet if possible. No crackbook, twitter and the rest. Only on here because of my hunting addiction.

I was meaning the last bit. haha.
the instructions on how to post pics.
it's actually really easy.
I've never been on facebook or twitter either.
but opened a fb account strictly for doing my pics, it really is the easiest.

Tried to get them linked from the gallery to the post like I usually do when posting pics but it doesent work with a iPad. And they rotated when I uploaded them for some reason.

They should be up soon though.

Congrats!!!

A billy goat as a first big game! Wow!!!

With a little 243 to booth! For all those preaching magnum power for the indestructible BC critters... that's one push for proper bullet placement! Good job!

Always beleived that bullet placement is vastly more important than over gunning the situation. Yet somehow I end up carrying my .300wm more often than not. Head scratch..

Curious junorr500, how did the goat react to the 243? Did your wife take out the shoulders? Did the goat anchor? Run? Just curious, 243 is a great little cal. Congrats again!

Busted a high shoulder. Went up a and over a ridge and down a couple ledges. Maybe 50 yards of travel. We found it bedded down and put a kill shot into it. Would probably have gone nowhere if had been in the vitals a little bit more.

Would in general recommend a .270 or similar cal minimum for goats however .243 is what she shoots best with so we went with it.

Was very impressed with the federal classic soft point bullets as always. I've shot them for years out of a .270 and never lost a animal and usually done the job with one shot if I place it properly. That includes several moose.
