On a quest for finding backpack for all my needs and im looking at the icon pro 7200.....heard good things about it and I really like the carbon frame and that it ways about 5lbs 10oz for a 7200 ci pack....watched couple of videos on it and im wondering if the zippers will last long and if its good for packing out meat.....if you have used the 5200/7200 icon pros packs please tell me how you use it for packing out meat.

I have the 2013 Icon frame and 7200 and its awesome. The 2014 is an upgrade for sure. Stronger frame and fabric. the zippers are all YKK and I have had no problems in the 2 years Ive owned my pack. carries weight very well. The bag separates from the frame for the load sling. Kuiu has a youtube channel and Jason explains everything.

And if you don't mind chasing never ending sqeaks around its great to be wearing while you're trying to be quiet.

That the hip belt were the frame rests. It depends on how much weight is in the pack under 20 lbs no noise. In my experience. The icon pro makes no noise.

Probably 30-40lbs for a 7-10 day trip.......it says that the pack is rated 150lbs
Can you access the pack from the top or only the horse shoe zipper

Can the 7200 fit two debone quarters plus a lion of a elk easily?

Im sure a picture of the "new improved" frame will get posted here eventually. I would post it but don't have a picture of it anymore.

Mine has been loaded up to 110-120lbs. It handles the weight like a champ. I've had an Eberlestock and several external frames, this pack is by far the most comfortable. Highly recommend it

I'll be keeping my eye on this thread. My Eberlestock Dragonfly J107M is already falling apart. I've barely used it.

I'll be looking at this and the MR

My 6000 had that issue. I put a "gasket" between the two surfaces, problem solved! ( this is on the old frame) the new one is way better.

I have used a dragonfly pack for the last half dozen years and really like it. Its biggest downfall is its not very comfortable with backpack gear and a goat in it. The layout is great for carrying all this but its tough on the shoulders. I am always on the lookout for something better so I ordered the kuiu icon pro 5200. First impressions are its a "busy" pack. There are straps and pockets all over. Actually confusing. I used this pack on a 2 day coyote hunt and was very impressed with how it carries weight. With 40lbs you hardly notice it. The load lifter straps really take the weight off your shoulders and place it on your hips. I wish my eberlestock pack had these load lifter straps. I am just getting my 5200 loaded for a 5 day grizz hunt. It will be pushin 70lb with my rifle and should be fairly comfy. I am not sure if I can haul a grizz hide and my backpack gear out but will try. The pack does separate away from the frame so you can stuff a hide in there. That's one reason it has so many straps on it is to accommodate this "load sling". I am impressed with the pack and hope it works well. Price wise it was only about $50-75 more than a new dragonfly. It makes zero noise and seems well built.

I just got my 5200 icon pro about a month ago but using it quite heavily for hiking/ sheep training. So far I love it. I owned a badland Ox which I used for two years. That could packs a ton of weight but just never fit right as I'm a smaller frame. The kuiu is awesome and custom fits nicely depending on the options you go with. The carries the weight nicely and feels like an internal frame oack. Max weight I've had so far is 67lbs and its carried well. iWork's recommend this pack for everything as now they are coming out with a load sling and bag for the front so you just carry the frame to get meat.
