I travelled to the Peace country to do a little hunting this year. It is a long way from home. I must admit though it is beautiful country. I hunted region 7-44 which has a any buck WT season.
After striking out on my morning hunt I hiked up in the afternoon to a look out point that I had scouted in the morning. It had a great view of a large bowl. Just before dark I saw this guy across the bowl, but he was behind the only aspen tree in the bowl. I had to shimmy down the hill to a small grove of poplar to get a clear shot and a rest. My first shot missed. I suspect it was high because he ran toward me and looked back to where he was standing before. I took a deep breath and calmed my nerves. Then I took careful aim and boom! A hit and he tumbled over backwards down the hill. The 180gr Nosler partition did it's job.
Then I had to go gather the rest of my gear and hiked over to him. He is my best whitetail to date. It was a bit of a chore dragging him out but so worth it.

This guy was on the meat pole helping himself to my venison.
