heading off the rock in a week to look for a moose , with the bow was wondering if anyone has shot a moose with there bow and could maybe give some pointers , what would be a exceptable range to shoot. I have a pse dna at 60 pounds 26.5 arrow 100 grain slick trick. I was thinking out to 40 yards ? I have been shooting out to 70 with this bow and would be very confident at 60 with deer . any suggestions or advice would be helpful.

If you're confident on a deer out to 60 yds, I wouldn't think twice about a moose at the same distance - let the arrows fly!

Stay a little back from the front leg to avoid the muscle mass and heavy leg/shoulder bone.

How heavy is your total arrow weight? Slick Trick is a good solid head.

Do you have a bull draw? None of us can tell you how far out to shoot a moose, its where you feel confident that you need to shoot within. Ambush has some great advice on placement, if you have a bull draw they are rutting hard so call the bull in close and avoid long shots that are a lower % for success. I have brought dozens of bulls inside 30 yds during the rut, its not all that tough if you get the right location and wind.

Big vital area to hit em with the stick and string, shouldn't have a problem bringing one within 50 yards I shoot the griz tricks great broadhead a bit bigger than your standard slicktrick. Goodluck !

Have you hunted moose before? I have seen many people lose their edge when a big bull comes in close, especially if he is being aggressive....resulting in everything from misses to poor shot placement. Best advise I can give you is once you confirm you have a bull, just concentrate real hard on his vitals and don't even bother looking at his rack, eyes etc......good luck!

The hunt was successfully and luckily my hunting partner came through for me . I stalked about 5 moose on the trip but was unable to get close enough for a shot. My partner made a great shot at 42 yards with the excaliber .

Good luck! I was bow hunting for elk and moose in August. The only moose I saw was this one. 20 yards away. I spent over an hour with her while I was on the tree stand. As a matter of fact, I thought she was going to ask for my phone number.

Punched a full pass through on a cow moose at 40 yards with a 60lb heart and lung are very good but just behind the rib cage is the liver. And that is an acceptable kill shot and no bone.
