Cherryville is awesome. I shot a nice WT there two years ago.

Make sure if you go into the store at the gas station that you don't mention that you shot a buck. The women start freaking out and calls start going up and down the valley. Something about heretic trespassers or something.

They were collecting deer heads at the store for CWD testing for a while, not sure if that's still going on or not. Does only IIRC?

i know last year - there was a freezer asking for all heads 8-23 8-24 i thinks

I think we stopped just in front of the hippy store to glass some deer in the fields. There were two ladies sunning themselves just in front of the store. They got all snipity and said "You can't hunt them! That's private land!". I just said we liked to watch deer just as much as we liked to eat them.....well 'almost'. They were good sports after that....at least to our faces.

Girls at both stores are cool with hunters I've found. There are plenty of us hunters that live there as well, but not enough deer around for out of towners:tongue:

Great little meat buck! They are some tasty around here. I'm raising 4 bucks on our property, need a couple more years for bone growth...

Yes, that was them. They asked us if we wouldn't mind helping them apply a little suntan oil on the many parts they couldn't reach.

Great little deer, congrats! When you guys said collecting heads, I didn't realize they were human heads, those two look like they have been sitting there for a while:tongue: And I would definitely say CWD.....no need to test!

Plenty of crown land to hunt but in two years I've only seen one good mature buck on crown and my buddy missed it lol. I've had to hunt on private property last two seasons to fill tags, both average 4x4s. If you don't have permission it's no better wt hunting than most places around. You'll see lots of game but good bucks are as scarce as anywhere.

Ya there's a lot of deer but there's a hell of a lot more no hunting signs than there are deer. LOL All private land in the valleys and lots of active ranching and farming going on.

Yup, it's all fine to come out there, but getting onto private land is tough...ive seen a few good bucks out there, but every one was on the wrong side of a fence....
