Up to over 40 for this year been great.

Was brought to my attention that this is over my aloud amount, by 40 I was referring to not just me but the people I have hunting so this is a total for us.

Drove all the way up Chehalis FSR and didn't see a single grouse! Any tips on areas to go for a rip? I am heading up to Pemberton this next week for work and have the day to do some hunting before work that night....areas I should check out? I am thinking heading up any of the FSRs enroute through Squamish? Or keep heading up to Pemby and head down those roads? Tips? Suggestions?

I saw a bunch of Region 2 grouse yesterday around Hope/Chilliwack. Unfortunately I only had a 30-06. Missed out on some geese too. I really need a 12ga with a barrel that's legal for hunting and the gf can take care of any long shots with the 06.

It's too wet and too many hunters for grouse in region 2. I've seen only 1 in 10 years.
Chehalis is the wettest place on earth.
I would go somewhere where it's dry with spruce forest.

2 ruffies met their demise up Nanaimo Lakes today. flushed a 3rd but no shot. Only out for a couple hours, so not bad for around here.

If anyone has any tips for blue grouse in the mid-island area I'm all ears!

Over the weekend we got a total of 8 ruffed. We were out in 3-14, 3-15. We saw probably a total of 20-25 birds. Didn't see any rabbits or deer. Although on Saturday my boyfriend almost had a cinnamon mama bear run into his motorcycle. He was coasting down the fsr (to not scare the grouse), went around a corner and there was a cinnamon bear further up the road. He saw it and started hitting the button to start the bike. Bear stands up and oh look, there is baby grabbing onto mama's bum. He is still riding towards her (to get back onto the highway), she starts huffing at him. He rides past and she runs across the road behind him and up a tree.

We are seeing about 30 a day in Reg 3, mostly in the mornings from 8am to 11am. They are out at night but its closer to 7:00pm and that's usually when we are heading back for dinner. Most were not on the roads though.

I was out with a buddy around Lillooet and we saw about 40 of them over the weekend and bagged 5. We could have got more if we weren't trying to find our little deer honey hole.
Most of them were on the road. See one, shoot it and 6 more fly away that were hidden. Good camo on the FSRs

Good luck out there.

Saw over a dozen in my Region 2 area the weekend before rifle season. I was able to get so close I could have whacked them with a rock.

This last weekend after rifle season started, I saw 10 or so either driving or walking FSR's. One was a huge fat ruffed. They'd either take off or disappear into thick cover before I could get a shot at them. Tried finding them in their cover a few times but no dice. Not a total loss though... I went through some thick crap and found a deer trail... followed and found a clearing at an intersection of 4 deer trails with an old rusted out tree stand on a fallen tree.

Long story short, grouse in my area aren't easy to pop but they can lead you to good deer spots!!!

How far East are you thinking?

Probably Princeton or cache creek area, I know cache creek/Clinton pretty good and can get away from people pretty easily there but I found a ton of elk sign around Princeton back in the spring when I was looking for a bear so it's a bit of a toss up at this point.

Mission was a success. Saw four, harvested two who are in my oven roasting as I'm typing. We likely could have had more but hit our turn-around time.

Was pulled-over for a compliance check on the way out...all good our course. They were after someone who had been reported.
