Can't have ammo with the guns

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong

Look it up for non restricted firearms

Storing Firearms SafelyUnload and lock your firearms!
Store the ammunition separately or lock it up. It can be stored in the same locked container as the firearms.

Ammunition can be stored with your firearms if you like but according to NRCAN, powder and primers "should" be stored separately in a wooden box made with brass components (hinges etc.) with large holes drilled in the box and the box appropriately labeled. The concept being brass won't cause a spark and the holes won't allow any pressure build up in case of a fire. The fridge seal would ensure pressure build up, so a fridge is not advised for powder and primer storage. It is a neat idea so if you want to ... consider drilling large venting holes. At the end of the day, do what ya like, I have never heard of anyone getting hassled about their powder and primer storage and (my opinion) the fridge idea is better than the stuff sitting on a shelf.

Without reading that I thought that if ammo and guns where together in the same locked cabinet one of the two would need to be locked up. But yet again I'm wrong
