We were out shed hunting in the Merritt area today. I had just crested a ridge when I spotted tine under a tree. It was under some brush in a very dark little pocket. It looks like Tinney wasn't lying after all, clearly a 4x4 muley/whitetail hybrid. To bad the G3 on the whitey side was busted off.

Don't lose or throw that away!......just too weird. Hang it up for sure. Heard that guys in the Kootenays are out picking sheds now. Is it true that a beautiful matched set can fetch $500? Anyway good for you on that weird find.

what the chit do you mean i watched a 5 point whitey breed a doe right in front of me, i got pics of the buck and doe combo and when i get smarter i will post pics. I totally beleive it happens more then everyone thinks :lol:

I thought most bucks would of dropped by now, but ive seen 3 mulie bucks with full head gear in the past week!

Hybrids do not exist. And besides, it's a 3 point on the drivers side, it's inadmissable as prrof unless you have a clean comparison to make as in white flag tail and solid 4 point mulie rack.

haha i would help you shoot one if you would find me a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. you just wish you didnt look as bad as the fish, then you wouldnt spend so much time fishing and maybe concentrate on the one thing that is on every youngs guys minds (a$$)

He measures about 39" total, 37" to the fork (Roughly). We'll see what the Iceshanty judges come out with. He's a beast of an old warrior thats for sure.

I was with Alpine when we picked up this badboy. When I picked it out of the Grass and Brush I sure had a shit eating grin on my face!! Finallly Found a Hybrid myself. Also seen a CO heading back into Merrit and Stopped and quized him. He claims to have seen Multiple Hybrids up in that area and Wasnt supsried at all.

Ive Caught a few that resemble that guy In the Waste Treatment Plant in Kelowna. Only Differnce where they were Brown and the Seagulls already beat me to the Corn!!

It's totally weird that you post that up. I wouldn't have believed it but yesterday made me a believer in hybrids. I indeed saw one of these herds that Tinney has been talking about. My jaw hit the ground. Maybe 10 or so of them. All had muley asses, muley ears, whitetail colouring and all had big black tails in which they flagged as they stotted, err I mean ran away. Pissed me off the my video camera is broke too. I was close enough to get it on film. I gonna borrow a camera today and see if I can see them again.
I wasnt gonna dare bring it up either. But Ive proclaimed here before that ive seen thousands of mulies and whities in my life, and never was one not perfectly clear as to one or the other. Last week i was quadding in the spinecop area (k-towners will know what i mean) There is both mulies and whities in there. Anyway, we quad right up on this 1 dumb-ass deer, and my girlfriend and I were arguing about what it was. This deer clearly had the head and face markings of a whitey, but it had a short black tail, and more of a white rump than any whitey ive ever seen. This deer was so tame we couldnt even make it run! A little after that we saw a group of pure whities and noted the major diffs. If that wasnt a hybrid then i dont know what would be!

I'm havin a hard time with this one.....like I said on that hybrid thread of Tinneys; I believe there are hybrid deer around ( my buddies have seen em), but......... I don't think that is a hybrid . If you look at it at all alngles it is obviously a mulie. I could be wrong....heck knows I've been wrong before......irregardless Nice find..........

True, about 4yrs ago right in town i saw 4 deer cross the street, slowed so my daughter could see them, and the last one in line had huge ears like muley, white butt like muley, had a long tail like whitetailed deer, but the tail was jet black. It stoped and looked for a second and when it ran it had the distinct white flag of the whitetail!!.....It was early spring not sure if it was buck or doe.

I've seen hybrids. My dad got one years ago, shot it as a 3 point muley but when he got to it he found it had a white tail flag. Seen funny looking hybrid does too. Tiny white tail faces big bodies, all out of proportion and stupid.
Perhaps the Hybrid "characteristics" will shift towards which tag one has.....:lol:

my uncle shot one a few years back. nice 4x4 mulie frame, but the coloring was whitetail, and had the big flag arse...... i'll see if i can get a picture of it...

I had three muley bucks (4 pt & 2 2pts) in my yard this past weekend. All had full antlers. They must have been buggin them cause they where jousting. To the north of us here I noticed the bucks dropped about 3 weeks ago.

They're the latest shedders out of all ungulates. It'll be a couple more weeks until most bulls drop.

LOL, I didnt realize the winter garden was a weekly thing. I've got 3 papers to write that are due at the end of March, been busy with those. Im hoping to get enough of them done on them that i can take off a couple days this weekend to pick up some sheds!

Hell more like daily. Tuesdays we have our NREM lab till 6pm, and it usually kicks our butts...so a pitcher (or 3 as today) and nachos is a neccessary unwinding. GOD BLESS THE WINTERGARDEN!!
Still 2 feet of snow where I want to shed hunt....maybe april :D

I'm guessing right in town, or the outskirts where there isnt as much snow. I saw 4 whiteys the other day out near the airport in one of them 4-6 yr old cuts.
Out by the airport, its a place i have been watching for a while now. Lots of deer in there too.
