Elk Hunting Strategies in Oct

Thinking we might try a late GOS elk hunt in Kootenays...around Golden/invermere from Oct 6th to 20th. What strategies would you more experienced guys suggest? What type of calling, how would you hunt differently from early season? Never hunted elk this period of time.

Glass, find them and kill them. Not much food around then, find the secluded areas far back that still have veg and you might find a bull.
They're often still bugling til around the 8-10th of oct.

Herded up pretty good by then. More satellite sixers. Hard to get at the big herd bulls. Everything is pretty talkative.
