Looking for some updated maps. Seems that google doesnt want to show all the clear cuts. you can zoom out and they suddenly appear but when you zoom back in it all magically fills in with imaginary trees. WTF?

I think sometimes it uses older images at different distances. Higher up new image: clear cut. Lower image, old image trees still there. I have also found that it sometimes makes a guess if it can't figure out the terrain. Try looking at cliffs or rock faces from the side. It some times fills them in with trees.

Try http://www.bing.com/maps/ and click on "birds eye" on the top of the map. In some areas of the province these maps provide better detail than google. I usually check google and bing if I am trying to find something specific.

if you use the GPS KIT HD you can switch from Google to Bing quickly, some areas there is about a 6 year difference in the age of the imagery. Bing does not worry about shooting imagery on cloudy days though, so your honey hole may be one big cloud on bing, but clear on Google Earth.

You can control the date of imagery. Same issue that sometimes the more detailed imagery is taken in winter.

I wonder if google even knows what a clear cut is.....
