wow.
that's terrible.
could happen to any of us out there.
I'm never too worried about a bear, but a sow and cub, one never knows what could go down.
shows also how fast this shit can happen.
he had his gun and it was still no help.

RCMP say a hunter who went missing in Kananaskis on Saturday was killed when he accidentally got between a mother bear and her cub.
Rick Cross died of severe trauma from a bear attack and his body was found near his backpack. RCMP have also recovered his rifle.
RCMP say it looks like he wandered into the area where the mother and cub were feeding on a dead deer.
Although Cross was mauled, the bears left after the incident so officials believe it was a defensive attack. Conservation officers are now trying to determine what to do about the animals.
The Picklejar day use area remains closed tonight.
A bear closure has been issued for all areas south of the Mist Ridge trail between the Mist Ridge trail and Lantern Creek north of Highway 40. The closure does not include Mist Creek trail or Mist Ridge trail.

The family of Rick Cross, the hunter killed by a grizzly bear while tracking sheep in the Kananaskis, has issued a statement about his death.
James Cross, Rick's son, described his dad as a man with boundless energy and many interests, including charity work helping children in impoverished nations like Haiti.
"He had a hand in so many different things," said James.
RCMP say Rick Cross was attacked after inadvertently disturbing a mother grizzly and her cub as they fed over a deer kill, in the Picklejar area of K-Country.

There is a hiker also been missing for a week in banff, found his car by a hiking trail but no sign yet. Been working around grande prairie and grande cache in the mountains and have seen a ton of grizzlies this year, and not even a draw season on them out here.
