There were four bucks dining together Sunday morning in the far corner before the treeline, and Matthew waited for a fork to walk past the three point and then put a bullet right behind his shoulder with my .270 he borrowed for the shot. Looks like all that time at the range paid off! Friggin' kid is a ten year old sniper! :-D

Harry Toolips popped by while we were letting the 3 pointer chillax in Pennask Creek, he was bowhunting with a bud...great to meet a fellow HBC guy out in the field! :-) Good luck this season bud!

Thanks guys, yeah he waited calmly until the two pointer walked away from the 3 pointer and then put the bullet right behind the shoulder...184 yards! I wasn't expecting him to get his first AND his second deer within a week! :-D Steveo, we don't need a deck hand but you're not a butcher, are you? :-D

Matthew wanted me to say thanks to all of you and say to the other kids that "there's no substitute for target practice at the range"...go with your dad and practice. The first fork buck was 90 pounds on the hook, and this three point was 138 pounds, so almost 230 pounds of venison at the butcher and the season for adults hasn't even started yet... :-) Good luck to all of you from both of us...we're still deciding on whether to get a whitetail...

That's a long shot, good for you!!

Can you fill us in a little bit? What was the scope, what power did you have it on... and please tell me he had a good solid stump or something to brace on.

If he made the shot freehand I think we should pitch in and get him a sharpshooters badge or something.

Again, it is really terrific to see him out there putting meat on the table at 10.

Matthew borrowed my .270 Win tang safety Ruger M77, shooting 140 grain Nosler Accubonds. The scope is a Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9X40 and he set it at 9X...he used a Harris Bipod, no freehand shot, but still a great shot for a ten year old! Thanks JAFA and everyone! :-)
