Back in August, the wife and I decided to go out and check some trail cameras and do some moose hunting in the early morning hours before the day heated up too much. This is my wife's second full year of hunting and she was getting anxious to harvest a moose. This was going to be our last hunt before the antler restriction and me concentrating on elk so I was getting anxious myself.
After unloading the ATVs at first light, we travelled down the trail and about 7 minutes later, a small bull moose stepped out onto the line about 75 yards away. My wife got off the ATV and shot him behind the shoulder in the lungs. He went about 20 yards and fell. One shot behind the ears later and my wife had her first big game animal. She was excited and relieved to get her first moose. He was a fat little bugger and will be great eating. Now on to elk hunting and late season moose hunting for me!
