I was thinking of buying the XP3 but the Nosler Partitions are cheaper for a premium bullet.

Anyone fired this new round from winchester yet?

the Xp3 should be an excellent hunting bullet, and availability this fall should be alot better than last year, when they were so new

I shot a 270 WSM with a barnes TSX bullet. It performed excellent on every animal I killed this year, it penitrates like a Mer. Fer.It also grouped under an inch from the begining. With results like that I didnt look any further. If Xp3 doesnt do it for you give these a try. 270WSM and 7mm WSM seem very similar in performance. Good luck.

blaker - call several shops in kelowna to find em.
I was trying to get my hands on them last fall for my .300 mag, it was like pulling teeth! As a matter of fact several shops didnt even want to try to bring them in.

If you are comparing energy retained and longer range ballistics take a look at some of the hornadys - easier to get and in some cases better than the XP3.

no Hornady, not even the Interbond, will do what the Xp3 should do

Curious, why is that? What part of the design makes them perform that much better?

Not necessarily better, but different.

If you want a bullet that acts like an X bullet- the XP3 will do it, except it's shorter.

If you want abullet to expand rapidly and not penetrate as deeply, the Hornady woudl be a better choice.

well said clarke, i used to shoot the federal premium ballistic tips with my 30-06. for deer they were fine since they did not damage much meet but left only a small entry and exit holes when it did not come into contact with much bone. More less goes for my 160gr Federal Premiums NP i am shooting righ tnow hence the topic of me wantcing to change to a bit more aggressive amo. thanks everyone.
