:-D My 10 year old Matthew gets his first buck on the first morning of the first season he can hunt legally with Dad! Had to soak it in icy Pennask Creek for 90 minutes to make sure it was cold before we took it back to toasty warm Kelowna!

Thanks everyone!! Glassman, I asked my son what he wanted and he said chops, roasts, and burger for the family, but he asked me if I could buy a half pound of jerky from the butcher when I took his deer in. :-) Sometimes I think his mom and I raised him right...
I got him a pound of his favourite honey garlic jerky. :-)

Well even if it was a normal year, he shot that buck on Monday morning, the last day of the long weekend... :-)

So one of our local game wardens named Mike was over here, and asked me about the deer I brought in on Tuesday. Showed him the pics, my licence, and where my son's bullet had entered and exited. He looked at his notes and said sorry to disturb you, "you're golden"!
I said I've been hunting according to the regs since 1982, kinda late in the day to turn poacher! :-) He laughed and said I guess you're right, we're looking for a clever lad who shot a doe and brought it in to Pioneer Meats in West Kelowna, claiming it was a buck. Thanks for your time... Interesting they can tell a gutted and skinned doe from a buck, but makes me glad that I go by the book! :-D
