With the only road into my LEH zone being blown out, I'm looking at other options for access. Does anyone know if the bridge below the Mica Dam is open to the Public? Trying to get over to the Dutchman FSR, and the north end of the road where it terminates in a beach/launch.

someone on here should know if the bridge at mica is public or not, and if there's any way of getting permission possibly.

My aunt works there I will ask her later today.

you can cross at mica but the Dutchman road does not end at any boat launch site. on a good year you have at least 40 to 50 feet of rocky exposed shoreline to cross to get down to water. only boat launch sites are on the 4-38 side.

Thanks Grizz. Boat launch is subjective, I'm putting a Kayak in the water and trying to paddle into the Foster Arm. Hoping the road is open to 52° 10.783'N 118° 27.804'W like it shows on google earth. Work has been a nightmare this summer so no scouting, and everything that could go wrong with this hunt is, so hoping for a little good luck.

that's going to be a hell of a long paddle, just to get to the foster arm from where the road ends.

18kms, not to bad. If i have to use the boat launches on the east side of the Dam it's 30kms, and the fat lady sings. Will have a case of beer and a 5gal jug of boat gas in the truck for the lucky folks with a power boat i bump into that say yes to dropping me off ;)

Your crazy lol I hope your leh isn't for a moose because a 18 km each way with a kayak will take you approx 4 trips cut up into tiny pieces stored in the front and rear of your boat ;) that's a couple long days work

I may have hunted out of a kayak a few times before ;) Goat and Grizz tags for the Foster drainage, seven day walkabout. Couldn't get time off for a sheep hunt, so this will have to do!

Should be up there around Sept. 10th. Not keen on playing up there any later in the season, other stuff to chase elsewhere :)

I'd lend you my zodiac, but I haven't finished the floor in it.

Thanks for the offer, but i'm always hesitant to use a engine when I go in solo. A rubber ducky is awful hard to paddle by yourself when the donkey dies ;)

that's when you pop the one end and let the escaping air propel you down the lake.

that boat and motor have put in many a mile on kinbasket.
I love the wood arm.
but paddling those waters is definitely one of the safer modes, aside from a jet, and of course timing it for calm winds.

Stick to the roads, the blue bridge is opened to the public. There are lots of moose in the area you shouldn't need to kayak to get a bull. Just watch the power line and the swamps below it.

Talked to Downie, Roads open to the end. Will call again right before I leave.

Moose is the last thing on my mind on this hunt. But thanks for the tips, I'll be sure to spend an evening poking around the Nagel on the way home.

Counting on it! Spoke to Lodestar tonight, may just get a rental. Eliminating the kayak portion of this hunt (now that the distance has doubled), gives me an extra 12hrs of hunt/hike time. Will need it if I shoot a Grizz. A boat, and beers-till-my legs-go-numb in Revy.
