grouse

when grouse does open, what is the best month to go out for them? and what type of areas? sides of trails?

I think it sept 10 or 15 if I remember the regs correctly, they like hanging out on the sides of gravel roads, very hard to spot when they stop moving, taste good though

For me it is not so much the time of the year but the conditions that day.
I find very few grouse out on the road ( that's the only place I hunt them ) on a sunny day.
But if it is overcast/cloudy and not hot they seem to be everywhere.
The best place I find them is near small creeks or culverts going under the road.

Sept 1st or 10th depending on your region and not every MU in every region. I have the regs on my phone but I prefer to have a paper copy in my truck and on my desk as I find it easier to read.

I agree with H and H, they like the overcast days...I imagine they like the roads so much because of the gravel for their gizzards???

i wasnt aware you could get a big ticket for not knowing where and when to find grouse.
the guy's asking when the best time and what conditions are best to find grouse... not when they open.
