Going to take the PAL course soon, but would like to challenge the CORE exam once I have my PAL complete.

Can you recommend somewhere to buy the CORE book? Are they easy to find used?

Thanks.

If any one has a core book they'd part with, I am in Chilliwack/Abbotsford and would take it off your hands.

Appreciated.

Check FVRL. They should have one or be able to get one.

If they don't have one, the BCWF sells them.

Had one until about a week ago - passed in on to a friend who needs it now. Sorry...

I highly recomend that anyone thinking of getting there core or pal that they take the course. Dont challenge. You dont learn anything by challenging.

I am taking the course. I'm interested in reading the book a while ahead of time. No hunters in my family or friends so I'm planning on learning as much as I can on my own, then hoping to be able to learn more while with an instructor for the day. Get the basics on my own and focus on more important topics while I can.

I'll check the library, thanks for that.

I'm looking for a core book also for my son. I'm in port Alberni. Willing to drive to most parts of the island. If you have one let me know what you want for it. Thanks.

can you challenge CORE?
I don't know you or your background, but would think you would have had one hell of a mentor and been on many hunts to challenge the CORE. Pal/RPAL.. that's one thing. CORE though..??
best of luck!

Yep, I challenged both and got 100% in core and PAL, but you know what? I actually regret being cheap and challenging the courses. I should have taken both courses and learned and much as I could instead of being cheap. Luckily I have some friends who have helped me learn a lot, but they are both easy courses to pass. I'm a bit of a study geek though... 8 years of university has left me with some bad habits.

My opinion now is that you shouldn't be allowed to challenge these courses....

so do you find yourself not understanding or asking questions about things? I had to ask Matt last year to clarify 4 point. has to have 4 points both sides? one side? tines count? this stuff was skipped in my CORE
glad you passed, enjoy!

The CORE course is available online. This is what I did & found it very helpful. Having the manual is a good thing too, but I think you should be able to pass the test using just the online resource. I did the same for my pleasure craft operator card, boater exam online.

Taking the PAL course is money very well spent.
