My son( 11 ) and I are both drawn for goats so I need to find him some new boots. His current boots aren't good enough for the steep terrain of goat hunting in the east kootenay's. I plan on targeting goats that are down lower on some of the mountains I hunt. I've looked on line and can't really find any kids/youth boots that looks like it has good ankle support or has reviews. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
joe

You could try Rocky Kid's Lynx Waterproof Boots. I have an 11 year old turning 12 with size 8 1/2 for boots. I know how hard it is to find boots for kids. There are dealers throughout BC and they have a good selection of sizes.

Try looking at ladies hiking boots. They come in smaller sizes and are more narrow to accommodate a youths foot. worked great for my son who is 13.

My son is 10 and I bought him the women's Asolo 235s in size 6 and they fit great. They are good for mountain hunting. Paid $130 at Wholesale Sports on a 50% off sale. Most kids boots are not really made for hard use.

labguy has a beauty pair of size 8 meindls for sale on the second page of hunting gear. Not sure of your sons size, but a great deal for sure.

My son wears a size 6 youth. Probably the same as a women's size 8

A women's 8 would be a men's 6 in terms of sizes. I've had to wear men's boots in the past for hunting and I always took 2 sizes smaller than what I wear I women's ( ie w10 would be a men's 8).

That is a great idea as you can get some good deals that way if the person the shoe is for doesn't have a wide foot.
I am waiting for the Sept clearance sale at the local outdoor store to get my son some asolo's.
I picked up a ladies pair a couple years ago for myself at significant savings. Usually it is the larger ladies sizes that are on sale anyway so they can be a good score.

Drove to cranbrook this morning after I worked nightshift and found a pair of scarpa Barun gtx at gerrick sports for close to $100 off.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Take your son to the shop and have him try on the boots before you buy. Sore feet are a sure way to ruin a great hunt.
