Like Thanksgiving for hunting this is prolly the busiest weekend for salt water fishing :) I wish all a good time and not too much of a gong show at the ramp. LOL Tell us where you're going to get out if you are. .. or maybe where you wish you were if you can't? It'll be Quatsino sound for me Springs and Coho 'course a little bottom fishing 2.

A few years ago we fished just outside the mouth at Winter Harbour. What a trip that was. After catching our fill of salmon we decided to bounce along the bottom by drifting. As we drifted we seemed to come into different zones where we would, exclusively, catch Y E snapper, then halibut, then some kind of cod I didn't recognise and rock cod in each zone.

I'd love to head back there some day but we're boat challenged right now.

Have a great trip Salty.

At first light Saturday will be fishing the local Vancouver waters. Just back from 12 days in Tofino so this may be a bit of a let down.

West Van early for springs/coho.....then trolling across to the Bell Buoy/QA....and then gonna see if there are any sox around.

KEY thing is to be off the water before all the Gorby's start heading out on the water to watch the fireworks.

MB I was thinking of doing the same thing on Saturday, wondering if being off by noon would be early enough.

I live down on Kits Point by Vanier.....so get to see first hand when the sh*tshow ensues. We are planning to be back at Jericho/RVYC by 4. Fortunately we don't have to wander into the bay further or nude Lions Gate.

If you are launching and need to pull out, I would shoot for 3 at the latest. I see boats on fireworks nights heading to Vanier to launch usually around 4. In saying that though...it IS Saturday and it IS a long weekend so people could be trickling to and from the launches all day. As opposed to Weds when it was the "get out of work and race to the launch".

Where are you coming from??

It is rare I will do fireworks on a boat anymore. Maybe if leaving from Jericho so you can avoid the stampede of moronic boaters heading for False Creek, the Fraser and under Lions Gate at 10:25.

I would be launching somewhere in Richmond. Thinking about it, I'm probably going to pass on Saturday to avoid the circus altogether. Long weekends are bad enough at the launches, include the fireworks and it will likely be ridiculous.

They just opened sockeye up for the whole coast by the looks of it. Kinda tempting to head to the other side but I think I'll stick with plan A. Good luck all, and just remember guys god put these long weekend shit show specialists on this earth for our entertainment, enjoy the fireworks. .. at a distance. LOL

Heading to Renfrew for the day. Hopefully avoid the wild coho this time (couldn't keep them off a few weeks ago), and come home with something to put in the smoker. :)

Off to Renfrew for the week on Sunday. Swiftsure from the reports I've heard is quite good. Time to pick off some of those Yankee fish as they go by. Sockeye are open too so hopefully we will have a use for the small freezer/cooler we take along. Anyone know where a guy can get salt ice in the south Island area?

East Point in Renfrew was not too bad today, considering it's been about 15 years since i last fished it. Lost one big bugger right beside the boat, but still came home with two in the low 20's.

Spent the morning buzz bomb hunting caught some rock fish but couldn't find any salmon. Did some trolling on the way back and hooked a couple coho bonked one for supper. Not a bad day on the pond :)

Any of you guys on the inside picking up any socs?
