Anyone ever use galvanized pipe on there wood stove in the wall tent ? I know thru some welders at work that if you weld it a bad or dangerous gas is given off. Just wondered if it could be used for a wood stove application.

I have used it, (still do) just cooked the hell out of it before setting it up in the tent. My old Riley stove was galvanized also.

No! It will heat up and give off the not so good gases. Very unhealthy for you. I,m a retired welder, did a lot of work on galvanized pipe!
And, no amount of drinking milk will protect you from the harm full fumes.

No do not use galvanized on a wood stove, you need to use black "stove pipe" as it is made for wood burning fuel. Galvanized is for natural, propane gas and fuel oil. I have been a gas fitter for 27 years.

Lots of stove builders supply galvanized pipe with their units , with instructions as how to properly cook them before using inside. Once they are seasoned they are supposed to be ok , and sure last longer than non-coated black pipe.

Stick with black stove pipe. I'm a welder and have welded lots of galvanized. Nasty stuff. Even grinding it is brutal. I welded up galvanized farm gates for a place in Aldergrove and wore an oxygen mask while doing so.
