3-30A Oct MOOSE

My son drew a tag for this area and while we've deer hunted in 3-30(usually at the bottom end) and have always carried a tag in case we actually saw an immature we haven't seen a moose or sign. Mind you we don't drive much and generally hike and cover smaller timbered areas. We'll be up there around the 20th Oct. for 7-9 days. Been studying maps and google earth but any local knowledge or advice would be welcome re: cabins, camping spots and possible starting point. Will have a 4x4 and our feet to get around.

if u could make it up the first week of oct you will have a better chance at a moose, come end of oct they're rutted out and tired and not moving much at all,

Ya even though the rut will be towards the end probably. Ended the moose are still there and can still be hunted, maybe get lucky get some snow for a track, could still call one in, for sure a lower chance but it happens lots, get out in some swamps at the early dawn late dusk, catch them moving moose love a good swamp, find some fresh sign and immerse yourself with that area you will find the moose, it may come at the most random time so be ready haha
