Hey there,

Heading up to Quesnel in mid August. Any good streams to fish on the fly? Wouldn't mind making a little fishing trip out of it.

Thanks,

Sarge

Quesnel river from Beavermouth to Gravelled ferry. I used to drift that section in a driftboat. Just stay river-left about 2 kills below Beavermouth, nasty whirlpool on the right side. Take the center chute just above the cable car crossing. Aside from those mentioned it is an easy ride to takeout.

I think the Blackwater River is overrated. I only ever caught rainbows in the 12 to 14" range regardless of where I was fishing. I did a drift from the West Fraser bridge to the lower bridge with the same fishing results.
The Quesnel will have some springs running about this time of year.

Depending on how far you want to travel from Quesnel. Quesnel river is great for fly fishing in the upper reaches. I would hit the Blackwater, Nazko, Cottonwood, Swift, Bowron or the Willow river if you don't have boat access.

Good luck and keep us posted.
