View Full Version : Travelling with the motor on transom

Just reading the post about mounts to hold the motor in the truck while transporting.
I just got my boat(used) the other day and while driving home I noticed the motor bouncing a lot on the transom. The motor is a 4 stroke, I would prefer to leave it on the transom, so how do I secure it so it doesn't bounce? I know the FSR are smoother than the roads in Surrey, but still would like to eliminate the bounce and stress on the transom.

Thanks for the help

Cinch a motorcycle strap (tie down) across the back of it. Go from your boats hold down point across the back, against the leg, and back to something solid near the boats centre. Essentially you are just sucking it in tight against the transom.

If you can afford the boat you can't not afford one of these.

Had one on my 16' Lund the wood in the transom on it needed replacing due to the previous owner not using one.
Mine was the "Panther" style but you'll see there's many to choose from, one will fit your needs.

A couple tie downs do the trick

What they said. A ratchet strap across the rear has always done the trick to keep my 20 horse steady

A transom saver is the way to go...
