Going scouting in a couple weeks as I'm unfamiliar with the area. Any suggestions on a starting point would be much appreciated!

My dad got a 3/4 curl ram draw 8-03 zone a second week of sept. I haven't hunted there for over 10 years and dad hasn't been there for over 30. Will be a great hunt for us and probably one of his last sheep hunts so if someone would like to give up some info please pm me. Thanks

Get on Google Earth and look for the 10 - 15 year old cutblocks. If you can find ones with adjacent fresh logging and perhaps a good creek bottom full of mature timber nearby, those are the spots I'd keep an eye on. ;)

I got a roosevelt draw for the north island. I'll be able to take off one weekend in September to hunt it. What weekend would be best? I only got a car. So keep that in mind.

Cut elk into meal size steak portions, wrap and place approx. 3 portions in front basket to pedal out.
Approx 142 trips

Your nose would be stuck to her bicycle seat.

You should get a set of mud terrains for your car. And a lift kit.

I am also interested in knowing what others might have to say about Spanish Lake above Quesnel Lake. I have hunted near Ghost Lake the last two years. Wondering what the moose situation might be around Spanish Lake as it is a much shorter drive for me.

Yes, if you aren't riding GoatGuy's shitters like I was last time I was there, a bike would be really handy. Sorcerer has one section that seems prone to washouts but they keep fixing it as they are always logging a bit up there. A bike should get you many kms up there.

Just aim a bit further back. Then you can get lots of tracking in. Maybe 10 miles.

I had the early november bison hunt in zone B in 2009 There was only about a foot of snow. Guys with sleds were having problems in some spots. We had temps down to around -20 or so. Lots of wind at night on the air strip. Bring Chains. I had to lend mine to a group to get out as the road hadn't been plowed before they left. Bison were still in the hills.

The peak rut is more 2nd-3rd week of Sept I would think? (Edit: after more research... 3rd week Sept - 1st week Oct) The any bull GOS in 6-1 is Oct 20-26 so if that's the week you mean, you could take a bull without your LEH authorization.

Well i managed to draw a moose in 5-02A for sept.10-30. Now unfortunately I can only go on the first half of the short season. I'm wondering how the bull's will be acting pre-rut(ish) and if anyone has gone this early? I know hot weather can be a factor. Any and all advice/tips/suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks, Greg

Also got 2-11 flat top mule, better off on private farmland? Or pushing farther up 99 and hiking the slopes

Yep, should be lots running around the pennask plateau. Start at Hatheume down on your map and fan out from there. You'll see lots of swamps in that neck of the woods. Pretty much anywhere in 3-12 is going to be a pretty good bet in october.

Keep the Downie road closure in mind.
If you are hunting later in the season and snow is on the ground, focus on the old burn at the beginning of Downie.

There are goats up main goldstream, stitt creek, up downie, up standard basin (usually smaller billies). Downie generally produces the best. November is the time if you can get a break in the fog.

Picked up a Foster Creek goat draw (7-02F). Access is brutal, but I knew this when applying. Doesn't look all that goaty, and very under utilized draw, but I'm determined to give it a go. Anyone else ever humped it in there? Have a grizz ticket for 7-02 as well, bases covered...

It will be much worse than the deer unless you served her the tarsal glands.
You'd be best to knock down a bull before Sept 22 ...or there abouts.

My son and I drew our first Goat tags. After several unsuccessful attempts in the areas where we have hunted and seen Goats, we tried playing the odds and drew two LEH tags in 4:38B. Any advice for goats in 4-38B (Downie Creek) area? We had a successful Grizzly hunt a few years ago in 4-37 (back in the good old days) but this will be our first Goat hunt and first time in 4-38. We have hunted a lot and have been in goat country in other areas but this zone is new to us. Any help or suggestions are appreciated!

I got a moose draw for 7-16C, Aug 15, 2021 - Sep 30, 2021. I have two questions.

This draw is open before the GOS (Sept 10 - Nov 5), so if I understand right I'll be able to hunt before the general season opens, right?
Any early season tips? I might be able to do some canoeing and calling towards the end of September, but just look for trails and feed in Aug?

Thanks.

Hmm August..water water water creeks..lakes..rivers..staying cool hydrated and out of bugs..that's for moose and you..
Bring citric acid powder. .mixed with BOTTLED water sprayed onto meat lowers PH balance and extends best before date by 4..5 days.don't rely on 4 game bags bring extra.YUKON are good quality..decent $$.flat topped tarps..so sun / rain repellent however allows wind to aid cooling.
Bring 2 pallets for back of truck for trip home..pallets tarp..game in bags
Pallets give 3.5 inches of air under and around meat..exhaust pipes from motor under truck box to rear exhaust heat the frame box..then meat.,bad.
If it rains pooled water in box..spoils meat fast..
Straight shooting
